Doris was unhappy in her retirement and resented her mom depriving her of the chance to have a family. As she watched all her cousins and co-workers enjoying their grown children and their grandchildren, she felt very alone. They all tried to include her and make her feel welcome, but she did not have much "in common" with them to talk about. She worked her whole adult life to support her mother and had no social life away from her mom. Then after her mom died -- she was lost.
